Branding & Domains
Custom email domains
Notification emails to you and your respondents come from your domain (e.g. noreply@yourcompany.com) instead of noreply@formbase.so. Better deliverability, better branding.
What it improves
- Branding — recipients see your domain in the From line
- Deliverability — emails from a domain you’ve authenticated land in inboxes more reliably
- Reply handling — if a respondent hits reply, the email goes to your domain’s inbox instead of an unmonitored address
Setting up
- 1
Open the Domains page
Click Domains in the sidebar and scroll to the Email domains section. Requires a Pro or Business plan.
- 2
Click "Add email domain"
Enter the domain you want to send from (e.g. yourcompany.com).
- 3
Add DNS records
formbase shows three CNAME records — DKIM keys that let mail providers verify the emails are really yours. Copy each Name and Value into your DNS provider exactly as shown.
- 4
Click "Check DNS"
The card moves from Pending DNS to Verified once all three records resolve. Nothing polls in the background, so if it still says "DNS not verified yet", wait a few minutes and click Check DNS again.
- 5
Pick the domain in form settings
Open Form settings → E-mail Notifications and find the Custom domain setting. Pick your verified domain — emails are then sent as noreply@yourdomain.com. Only verified domains appear in the dropdown, and each form picks its own.
Limits
The domain quota is a single pool shared with custom form domains. Pro allows 5 domains in total and Business 20 — so on Pro, if you’ve added 3 form domains, you have 2 email domain slots left.
Without a custom email domain, notifications come from noreply@formbase.so. If you remove a verified domain later, forms using it fall back to noreply@formbase.so on their own.
DNS provider quirks
Some DNS providers add their own subdomain or refuse certain record types. If verification fails, check that the records appear exactly as shown — no trailing dots added or trimmed.
